The camera becomes the poet, singing the myriad aspects of life through a unique lens, touching the hearts of every viewer with the poetry of light and shadow. In the fleeting moments where light and shadow intertwine, each frame is a whisper of time, and every hue is an expression of emotion.
Pre-production Design:
I teamed up with my classmates to participate in the National College Student Advertising Art Competition. In this project, I was responsible for the creative design of the script and storyboard in the pre-production phase, as well as the meticulous editing in the post-production phase. During the pre-production stage, I researched popular internet memes at the time and skillfully integrated them with the unique tone of the China Unicom brand. I carefully planned and completed the storyboard and script for the advertisement. Thanks to the detailed and thorough preparation in the early stages, the post-production editing process went smoothly, resulting in a highly satisfactory final product.
Producing Experience
This film is the first project I worked on as a producer. Since then, I began systematically studying the responsibilities of a producer. As this project was part of a second-year course, I had the opportunity to experience work in other departments alongside my producing role, which helped me improve my adaptability and coordination skills. Currently, I am capable of independently handling tasks such as creating shooting budgets, production schedules, call sheets, and contracts for location and talent.

In my role as the producer for this graduation short film, I have mastered the skills of creating core production documents such as master schedules, budget sheets, and daily call sheets, ensuring that every task progresses clearly and systematically.
In terms of budget management, I have always maintained a rigorous and meticulous approach. When participating in the formulation of the crew’s detailed budget plan, I precisely calculated every expense and strictly controlled all expenditures during project execution. Concurrently, I have gained extensive hands-on experience in practical tasks such as renting locations, booking catering, and arranging transportation. Leveraging this experience, I successfully saved the production over 1,000 RMB, using my professional skills to reduce costs and increase efficiency for the project.
During the shooting period, I coordinated staff and cast members of different age groups. Particularly in liaising with actors, I was able to find appropriate communication methods for everyone, from energetic teenagers and steady, professional middle-aged adults to senior actors who required more attentive care. A memorable experience was when I was responsible for coordinating 18 senior extras. Through patient communication and thoughtful arrangements, I received positive feedback from most of them. This further solidified my belief that good communication is the cornerstone of effective teamwork.
Beyond my daily production duties, I have also achieved success in investment and fundraising. Drawing on my extensive communication experience and deep understanding of the project, I successfully secured 15,000 RMB in investment for the film. This funding significantly enhanced the production quality of the short film, allowing the creative vision to be more perfectly realized on screen.
I am also proud that the short film created by our team was successfully selected for the Jackie Chan Action Plan’s investment and project incubation program. I had the honor of participating in the mid-term roadshow with the core creative team. This experience not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my understanding and passion for the work of a producer.
(The final cut of the film cannot be released at this time as it has been submitted to film festivals.)
post-production
I worked with my classmates on a short documentary about the food market across from our school. I was responsible for the post-production editing. Throughout the creative process, I repeatedly thought about my approach to editing and the innovative elements I could incorporate. Our theme was to capture the lively, everyday atmosphere of the market, and while the scenes were familiar, I was very focused on how to make the footage engaging without compromising objective documentation. I wanted the audience to experience the market in a unique way.
I drew inspiration from the series Breakfast China, using parallel narrative structures and mimicking some of the interview techniques commonly found in variety shows for the editing style. (Later, I even visited the production company behind Breakfast China to deepen my understanding of documentary filmmaking and further enhance my skills.)
I have a strong passion and interest in editing, and in my free time, I often create re-edits of films and TV shows that I enjoy.
Internship Work
During my internship in a field related to my major, I also worked alongside the production team to create content and represented the company in competitions. In this process, I took on the role of Assistant Director. I was involved in communicating with the director and cinematographer during the pre-production phase to design the script, and I also collaborated with the editing team to brainstorm creative ideas. Our work was eventually broadcast on a provincial TV station.
